Sunday July 14th Whitaker was struck by a car and died on the scene. Sweet Pea inspired so many people. Because of him I believed that I could accomplish great things too. I wanted to be just like him in the ring. At East Side we had posters of him on the wall. I remember looking at those posters thinking, wow somebody from Norfolk actually made it. Despite his demons God put him here to inspire people and he did just that. Let’s not act like we never had issues. I’ve fallen a few times and had to get back up. He surely won’t be forgotten.
